Participants are introduced to the Urban Challenges of Sydhavnen (the south harbor), a fast-changing industrial urban area, which will serve as the location of the workshop. The participants will be introduced to artists, designers, architects, small companies, social institutions and homeless people – each with their own urban challenge in a fast-changing neighborhood.

The three sub themes are:

PEOPLE How to cultivate and nurture your creative spirit?
ENTERPRISE How to make room for skills and competencies?
CITY How to transform city heritage into a city of opportunity?
CREATIVE PEOPLE
We will investigate the occurrence of creativity in people. We want to debunk the myth of the heightened individual, the special circumstances – or suspicious superstitious lucky breaks! Instead, we will focus on the conditions for creativity, the systemic solutions and personal approaches that enable it to thrive. Indeed, how does one cultivate creativity in people – and once established, how is it possible to nurture it?
CREATIVE ENTERPRISE
The view from Creativity World Forum 2017 is at a world in which new organisational models emerge on the hour: Like creative enterprise, private public partnership, hubs of interconnected freelancers, community interest groups, and many more hybrid models. One of the three core challenges at Creativity World Forum looks exactly at these new movements and models for enterprise, when asking: How to make room for skills and competencies?
CREATIVE CITY
We zoom out to get a full view of the city scale in one of the three core challenges: How to transform city heritage into a city of opportunities? We highlight this against a backdrop where many cities re-scoping towards a creative city, whilst dealing with inherited structures and population increase. That is not an easy balance. The challenge is how to create a future full of creative opportunities in our cities? What happens with the inherited structures? Do we re-generate? Or is it wiser to start afresh?
